Hi everybody! My name is Kathy. I work with Steve at A Better Dog and I’m hijacking this page.
I’ve worked for Steve on and off for the past couple of years while I’ve been going to college and I’ve found that he isn’t very good at blowing his own horn. So I’m taking over.
I’m getting ready to leave the company to go back and finish my final year of school and it makes me very sad to be moving on. So I asked Steve if I could leave my own little testimonial out here before I go. I decided I wanted to be a part of this page in particular because I’ve seen why you’ll like working with him.
I’ve listened to him talk to people on the phone and I’ve gone with him to people’s houses. He’s one of the smartest, funniest people I know. He’s always nice to people and he doesn’t ever talk down to them at all.
One of the things that I’ve always been really impressed with (and this is a big reason that I like working here) is that he is very honest. I’ve heard him tell people many times that they really don’t need a full dog training program. If someone calls and they have a good dog who only needs some obedience commands, Steve will tell them the truth. He doesn’t try to blow up a dog’s problems just to sell a deal to someone.
He’ll also tell you if you have what he calls a “project dog”. He doesn’t candy coat things just so you think everything will be easy and he doesn’t lie to people about what he can guarantee just to make a sale.
If you really look at our website, you’ll see that he pays alot of attention to all of the details. His training program is that way too (you should see the online site).
Steve does all of the website work. He doesn’t have some design company or a big franchise to do his site. He works really hard at it and he does it by himself.
He’s also really good with communicating. Whenever I have questions or he’s talking to someone on the phone, he always takes the time to really explain things. And he never acts like you should already know the answers. If anything, he’ll talk too much.
Steve loves his dog and he loves his client’s dogs. I’ve even seen him get a little emotional just reading a note from someone who’s had a good success with their dog. Read the review that he titled “Nicest Ever”. I thought he was going to cry when he got that one – if I wasn’t here, I think he might have.
I shouldn’t tell you that. He may take that part out.
Anyway, if I had a piece of advice to pass along (and Steve won’t like this), I would tell you to call the other trainers that do in-home training. Talk to them and then call Steve. You’ll see the difference.
Thanks for reading my little note. I hope it helps.

“You would not believe the peace and tranquility and JOY and RESPECT around my house after only a few days of consistent and persistent training and correction.
Boojum is no longer yelling at me, Joops is about the same (just a silly boy eager to please), and Holly is much calmer and more focused.
It appears that I am becoming recognized as the leader of this cowdog pack!!!”
